Pro – these cages are very inexpensive. You can find mass produced ones but some are custom-made.
You will find them anywhere, no problem.

If price is reducing your choice of cages you could probably do no worse than choosing an acrylic bird cage.

You can buy them to put together yourselves. If you decide to go with this option make sure that you put the cage together securely, you don’t want it falling apart the first time the bird is in it.

An acrylid bird cage isn’t the kind that a bird can climb in so you need to add things that the bird can climb on, extra perches etc.

An acrylic surface in place of bars gives you an uninterrupted view of your bird at all times. Cleaning of the surfaces shouldn’t be a problem, a wet cloth with soap should do the trick, then polish with a dry cloth.

The cons are that acrylic is not as durable as metal. Acrylic can get scratched and begin to look very shabby quite soon. If you have a parrot for instance, his sharp claws and beak will wreak havoc on an acrylic surface.

Another thing to keep in mind is temperature – if you keep your home at a moderate temperature there shouldn’t be a problem but it you like more heat then I think you will find your bird will suffer in an acrylic cage.

You should choose carefully, I believe there are acrylic bird cages that have metal barred tops so ventilation wouldn’t continue to be a problem.

Some apparently put climbing bars on the inside of the acrylic and this could present quite a problem getting between to clean the acrylic surface.

The choice ultimately is yours but always consider the safety and security of your bird and be sure he will live a happy and healthy life in whichever cage you choose for him.
