![]() Hanging Bird CagesYou should be very careful about buying a hanging cage because it is just not suitable for all types of birds. Some birds get upset with the movement and cannot sleep because of it. Plus the motion can upset their eating habits so it could happen that the bird would become under-nourished because of the swinging motion. Always ask your pet store or breeder if a hanging cage would be suitable for any bird you are contemplating buying before you buy a cage. Don’t make a costly mistake both in money and the health and welfare of your bird. The best buy really is a cage that can be moved easily to a quieter darker place in the home at night time, your bird will need around 8 hours of sleep a night. Hanging bird cages obviously suit some tiypes of birds so if you desperately want a hanging cage you will have to pick a type of bird who will flourish in it. You won’t get as big a choice in hanging bird cages as you would for the other rectangular or hexagonal type shapes. When you find a hanging cage it is usually a lot more decorative and makes you think in a way that it is not for housing birds but for decoration. I have, in fact, seen many advertisements for hanging ‘bird’ cages but in actual fact they state quite plainly that they are only to be used for decoration. It is easy to see that they are decorations only because there are no perches or feed containers in them. I have seen cages advertised as hanging cages but to me they look like carrying cages with a handle on the top. I suppose they could do double duty if you wished. The hanging bird cages that are considered as wholly decorative are really lovely things. Even without anything in them they make a statement. You can find some wooden ones which are so intricately made they would fit into any home decor, no problem. |
