You are going to need a cage at the very least 30″ long if you just have one pair, but if you have more then naturally you will need a larger one for more pairs.

Your finch bird cage needs to be wider rather than higher for finches because they tend to fly horizontally and they are not climbers like parrots and parakeets.

The best advice really is to buy the biggest you can afford, keeping in mind the space you have available in your home. Plus always check the bar spaces, they must never be bigger than the birds head or he can push his head through and not be able to retrieve it and cause himself injury.
