I think if you are contemplating buying a used bird cage you need to have time to spare and patience. For instance where will you start to look. Do you have all your requirements worked out. Are you wanting used bird cages for actual birds or do you have another purpose for them?

You need to have all your facts in place before you even start to look. Your dimensions [for whatever purpose you want the cage], price, where will it come from geographically, remember if you order from another country or even within the US you need to pencil in an amount for carriage.

Of course you could be lucky and know someone who wants to sell a cage, or there could be a garage sale going on in your area, that’s a good way to find what you want.

You will find advertisements in your local paper under pet supplies I have no doubt, and if you have a flea market operating in your area, this is another possible source of used bird cages.

I am actually in favor of recycling unwanted goods, what is someones trash can suit another person’s needs of the moment. As long as the cage is undamaged, no sharp bits etc. you can always clean it up if need be.

Do inspect the cage carefully, make sure there are no places where your bird can injure itself.

You can always look online, there are numerous sites where I have no doubt you would find what you are looking for and probably at a fair price. You do need to be careful about where the cage would be coming from, check for shipping costs before you decide it is a good price.

Whenever you buy used bird cages you must always keep in mind that the reason that it is no longer required is because the bird who used it has died, through some sort of illness.

To avoid any problems for your own bird you must always carefully disinfect the cage, even though the previous owner might say they have already done it – do it again and then you can rest easy.

You might have to wait a while before you find just what you are looking for but there are some great bargains out there – just keep looking until you find your bargain.
